Accommodation

Zurich is an international business city as well as a favourite European place visited by tourists. It offers a wide choice of hotels and youth hostels in all price categories. We suggest to use the room reservation service of Zurich-Tourism to book rooms for your stay in Zurich. Please book your rooms well in advance; EMPG XV conference takes place at the beginning of the tourist season in Zurich.

The following list provides a selection of low(er) budget accommodation:

Travel to Zurich

Zurich is located in the centre of Europe and can conveniently be reached by public and private transport. Zurich International Airport serves many international carriers and has frequent flights to all major European and many overseas cities. A 10 minute train-ride, with trains leaving about every 15 minutes, brings you to the centre of Zurich. The main railway station (Zurich Hauptbahnhof) is just 10 minutes away from the EMPG-XV conference venue, major hotels and the heart of the city of Zurich. It connects all Swiss and most European cities by frequent train services. Timetables are available on the SBB website. Alternatively, a direct link by tram no. 10 exists between the airport and the conference venue (stop ETH/Universitätsspital).

Zurich is linked to the European motorway system with Italy, France, Germany and Austria. However, we strongly advice not to travel to Zurich by car. Parking space is rare and exceedingly expensive. There is no parking in the vicinity of ETH Zentrum where the conference venue is located.

Travel in Zurich during the conference

We will issue a public transport ticket to each registered delegate that is valid from Sunday, 5 June through Wednesday, 8 June 2016. The ticket is valid within the entire city of Zurich and specifically includes the transport from the airport to the city valid for trams, buses and train services to connect the conference venue and hotels and hostels located in the city of Zurich. Pre-registered delegates will receive a PDF document including the public transport ticket prior to the conference to allow transport from the airport to the city. For on-site registration the ticket will be issued upon registration.
